As I understand the misnomer of oral sex not being real sex has reared it's ugly head again in local high schools. My daughter thinks she remembers a website showing pictures of beautiful young ladies with thier mouths and faces forever scarred by STDs that was being promoted to high schools to use as a deterrent. Does anyone else remember seeing such a thing? I have three teenage grandchildren and am torn...Probably leaning toward showing them the pictures with a stern lecture...Can I get some feedback please?    Rose in Roses Room

Totally appropriate! Hopefully, the schools also show a close up video of a women screaming her head off while giving birth to a 10+ pound baby vaginally, then delivering the placenta, and being stitched in a sensitve area. Scared straight programs seem to work. Scare the poo out of them and maybe they will use more precautions or wait a little longer to have sex. Haven't you ever heard of rainbow parties? The youth of today are way too sexually uninhibited.

Agree with Madre. Don't get me wrong no saint here but I think the stronger the message the better.

Rainbow parties are just a myth, dolt.

The youth of today are just as sexually uninhibited as any other generation, the only difference is that today it's much more publicized.

I think it's probably the best form of deterrence.  I don't know why schools don't want to show this stuff to the willing.  There's a really good video that shocks and awes about another teen problem--- Texting while driving; but for some reason they took it off of youtube.  Our kids got to see it and they said it made a big impression.

Thanks for the input ladies. I also think a scared straight kind of thing works the best...I have to differ with you just a little Johanna, I feel todays youth is at the end of the line of generations that have drifted away from respect and shame....Back when me and Fred Flintstone roamed the earth if a kid was caught drinking, making a fool of themselves in public or - God forbid - become pregnant the whole family was shamed, and the girl sent to live with an out of town 'aunt'.  I know this led to some back street abortions but it certainly led to many more kids backing off before things got out of hand. These days kids have no respect for themselves or anyone else...teen pregnacies, violence, gangs are out of control.....OK I'm off my soap box....   Rose in Roses Room
