I heard someone on the radio lament Christmas cards have turned into an opportunity for people to show off a picture of themselves on vacation, rather than to celebrate the birth of Christ. I think the commentator was a priest, so maybe he had professional concerns. :) He made a good point, but I still love getting pictures of far flung friends and seeing how their families are growing ... and I"m planning to use a shot from our summer cruise for our card this year!

What does everyone think -- are Christmas cards turning into a competition of who had the best vacation this year??

I don't think so.  We get about 40 cards a year and maybe 4 "letters" of the year's happenings.  Most people who send us a card send a nice sentiment and leave it at that.

I don't think so.  I always send cards about the Birth of Jesus, but there is nothing wrong with sending pictures as well.  I always send pics of the kids school pictures in the cards :)
