My hubby's asking for a guitar this year so at least I have an idea.  He usually is very hard to buy for too because like you said they want all the expensive gizmos.  What about sporting event tickets, concert tickets, golf gift certificates or charter fishing certificates?  I'm so out of ideas too after 15 years of marriage.

I dread buying for my parents every year.  They have everything & pretty much buy what they want.  They have mentioned they don't care for gift cards.  So I have been pondering what to get them for months!

I think my biggest hits with my mother-in-law have been a spa gift certificate & tickets to a play in Cocoa Village.

Simple Mom, I agree.  My DH is the hardest person in the world to buy for.  You can always wrap yourself in ribbons and bows.  I did that one year and he loved it!  And I didn't cost a thing!(LOL!)

For jhpmom and Sharon, I suggest pictures or a home-made dvd of your children.  My siblings and I took old photos of my parents when they were kids, and had them restored and put on a cd to music. (Their favorite 50's music). They both loved it!  You can also have your children write heart-felt letters of why they love your parents/in-laws.  Or you can write how grateful you are to have them as parents/in-laws.

I think personal gifts, with some thought behind it, is always better then store bought, or gift cards.

I would have to say my parents!! Like someone else posted, they have everything they want/need...I feel like if I buy them "stuff" it just adds to the "stuff" they already have in their house!  I like to buy tix to plays & such for them (last year bought them tix to see Wicked)...I have been doing pedicures with my Mom for a couple of years now, she really enjoys that!

Another good personal gift is a calendar with pictures of their grandkids for every month.

And yes, my husband is the hardest. I always get him something thoughtful, but if it doesn't cost at least $1,000 and plug in, it doesn't count in his book!

Simplemom I did a really cute calendar for Grandma last year on Kodak's website.  They usually run a special on them in November.  I downloaded all the pictures & then they sent it to me in the mail.  It was very professional looking too.  I've been doing this for the kid's grandparents for years & they always enjoy them.
